THIS SPLIT BOASTS TWO POWERHOUSE TRACKS FROM YOURS TRULY, ONLY TO BE COMPLEMENTED BY AN EPIC 15 MINUTE BANGER BY “SKULL” BROTHERS IN SOUND BASTARD NOISE. A BIG “THANK YOU” GOES OUT TO WOOD AND COMPANY, AS WELL AS BOB FROM DEEP SIX, FOR HELPING TO MAKE THIS RELEASE THE BEST IT CAN BE.
"The term noise may be one loosely thrown around to describe music with a harsh unharmonius edge, however even in the most burliest and sour of genres it still is music and therefore retains melody to some degree or another, primitive melody yes, buried under swaths of sreeching sounds yes, but no matter how loud or hard hitting your music is; it still scrapes out a melody. That is of course unless you disregard all the rules that define music from rhythm, timing and others, where upon negation of such rules the sounds you hear before you enter the collective category of "Noise".
A term often associated with being a nuiscance, Noise is something less commonly linked with leisurely plays, yet hear I am listening voluntarily and enjoying the darker unchartered worlds of noise courtesy of the Actuary / Bastard Noise split. It is relatively hard to describe something that does not keep a constant face nor has any point of reference from my listening perspective, harsh noise I may know a little of, Noisecore too, but this certainly feels like a distantly estranged yet cultured relative towards them, a different sort of noise. A pathetic yet only connection I know would be comparing it to the music I experienced playing the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, a hefty blend of suspense, fear, unknowing and reward amalgamated in a curiosity killed the cat crossed with a he who dares wins vibe.
Listening to it is not only unique in the alien forms of sound it conjectures, but also the reaction of the listener. I find myself being excessively attentive towards it, attempting to decipher some buried strain of musical reasoning behinds its obtuse progressions and clanging shifts, I am adamant there is some method in the madness of it all, the clicks screeches, chirps, simmers all add up to something; I am just yet to work it all out, perhaps thats the purpose, most likely I am looking too deep into it all, either way it has an enthralling hook to it one I never thought I would find amongst the pervasive depths of noise.
Surprisingly and exceptionally thrilling release, so alien yet engaging. The brilliancy of it all is that in noise there are no rules, just a blank canvas to do as you please, and in this case ACTUARY and Bastard Noise have certainly painted a riveting and often thought heavy creation. "
